The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has opened EEO-1 data collection for 2024 via its portal on May 20, 2025. The deadline to file is June 24, 2025.

The Details

The EEO-1 is an annual report through which covered employers must submit demographic workforce data, including data by race/ethnicity, sex, and job category, to the EEOC.

The EEOC has clarified that EEO-1 reporting for 2024 is still required for both the following types of employers:

  • All private sector employers with 100 or more employees.
  • Federal contractors with 50 or more employees and contracts of $50,000 or more.

For 2024 data collection, the EEOC instructs employers to report binary sex data (i.e. male or female).

Employers must submit the report via the EEOC’s online portal.

The 2024 EEO-1 Component 1 Instruction Booklet and 2024 EEO-1 Component 1 Data File Upload Specifications are also now available on the portal.

Next Steps

If you are covered by the EEO-1 requirement:

·      Read the 2024 instruction booklet.

·      Prepare to submit your EEO-1 by the June 24, 2025 deadline.

·      ADP TotalSource helps you with your EEO-1 reporting requirement by providing a way to download a report with the appropriate information; however, ADP TotalSource is not permitted to submit the EEO-1 report on your behalf. If you are required to submit an EEO-1 report you must submit the report using the EEOC’s portal.

Instructions on preparing and filing your EEO-1 Report from ADP TotalSource

1.    Determine your establishments and record information about each establishment in the Validation Tables (Setup > Validation Tables > EEO Establishment).

If you previously filed an EEO-1 report, in the top left-hand corner of your certified report represents your establishment number for each location, this is displayed as U=number.

Note: If you have multiple locations, review each page as each location has its own establishment number.

2.    Login to ADP TotalSource® and access People > Statutory Compliance > Run an EEO-1  Report > Non-Fileable > Employee Details.
You must select a Reporting Year and Snapshot Period before Employee Details can  be selected.

3.    Determine your snapshot period which is a single pay period between Oct. 1 – Dec. 31 of the reporting year (In this case 2024).

The Snapshot Period is used to identify employees who must be reported in the EEO-1 report. For all employees in the Snapshot Period, the report should identify each employee’s establishment, job category, race/ethnicity, and sex.

4.    Review the Missing Fields column and cure data for employees identified as missing critical elements. To add missing field data, navigate to:

EEO Establishment Field: People > Employment Profile > Position Card Race/Ethnicity/Gender Fields: People > Personal Profile > Demographics Card

5.    Run Fileable EEO-1 Component 1 Report by accessing People > Statutory Compliance > Run an EEO-1 Report > Fileable > Fileable Report

Before the Fileable Report button becomes available, you must enter a Reporting Year, Snapshot Period, and Employer and Certifying Official information. Employer and Certifying Official information are entered by clicking Edit under Appearance and Other Settings.

6.    The 2024 EEO-1 data collection does not include the option to report non-binary employees. If you intend to submit this report to the EEOC for EEO-1 data collection and have non-binary employees reported in Field 189 of this report, you must manually adjust this report before submission as follows: (1) determine a binary designation (male or female) for employees listed in Field 189; (2) manually add each employee from Field 189 to the column that corresponds with their binary sex, race and job category values; and (3) delete the non-binary data contained in Field 189.

7.    You are now ready to file your EEO-1 report before the published deadline June 24, 2025.
