The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has announced that employers won't be required to file an EEO-1 Report in 2020 because of the impact of COVID-19. Instead, the EEOC will collect the EEO-1 data for both 2019 and 2020 in March 2021.

Background:

The EEO-1 Report requires employers to submit data about their workforce categorized by race/ethnicity, gender, and job category (Component 1). The following employers are required to submit Component 1 data annually:

  • Employers with 100 or more employees.
  • Federal contractors with 50 or more employees and a federal contract amounting to $50,000 or more.

Compliance Recommendations:

The EEOC will update its website and communicate directly with EEO-1 filers regarding the change in the filing schedule. The EEOC will also provide EEO-1 filers with the precise date in 2021 on which it will begin collecting 2019 and 2020 data. EEO-1 filers should continue to check the EEOC's website for additional information. Please contact your dedicated service professional with any questions.
