February and March 2019 HR Compliance Calendar

February 3, 2019:

New York Amended Law Regarding Organ and Tissue Donation. The law prohibits insurers from discriminating in life, accident and health insurance based on a person’s status as a living organ or tissue donor. In addition, the law authorizes the use of paid family leave benefits for organ or tissue donation procedures.

March 29, 2019:

Michigan Increases Minimum Wage. The minimum wage increases to $9.45 per hour.

Michigan Requires Paid Medical Leave. Employers with 50 or more employees must allow eligible employees to accrue up to 40 hours of paid medical leave per benefit year.
