Pennsylvania protects organ donations

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has signed legislation HB203, also known as the Living Donor Protection Act, or "the Act" that will provide unpaid leave to eligible employees for surgery related to organ or tissue donation. The Act takes effect June 26, 2021.

Philadelphia to enforce fair workweek standards

The Philadelphia Fair Workweek Ordinance adds scheduling and pay requirements for certain food service, retail and hospitality employers. The ordinance was originally scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. It will now be enforced beginning June 1, 2021.

Pittsburgh requires supplemental COVID-19 paid sick time

The City of Pittsburgh has adopted a temporary ordinance that requires employers to provide leave for certain COVID-19 related reasons to employees who work within the city. The ordinance is in effect from December 9, 2020, until the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Philadelphia issues COVID-19 paid sick leave regulations

The City of Philadelphia issued regulations to clarify the circumstances in which certain employees can take leave under the Promoting Healthy Families and Workplaces Ordinance (PHFWO).

Pennsylvania requires new notice for unemployment insurance

Pennsylvania has enacted legislation (House Bill 68) that eases unemployment eligibility rules and requires employers to provide employees with an unemployment notice. House Bill 68 takes effect immediately.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the City of Philadelphia expanded its paid sick leave ordinance and postponed its predictive scheduling law.

Pittsburgh requires paid sick leave

Pittsburgh has enacted an ordinance that will require all employers in the city to provide paid sick leave to employees. The law takes effect March 15, 2020.
