Utah - COVID-19 vaccine requirements

Utah Governor Cox signed Utah S.B. 2004 which is effective immediately. This law prohibits:

-       Private-sector employers from requiring COVID-19 vaccinations unless a range of individual exemptions are granted when requested by employees. 

-       Employers from retaining a record or copy of an employee’s vaccination proof documents unless the employer can show it must retain such records pursuant to law, or there is an “established business practice or industry standard” of maintaining vaccination records.

Utah issues COVID-19 safety standards

Utah Governor Gary Herbert has issued Executive Order 75, which requires employers to follow certain COVID-19 related safety requirements for the duration of the public health emergency. The Order is effective immediately.

Utah adds protections for volunteer emergency responders

Utah has enacted legislation (House Bill 173) that will provide employment protections for employees who are volunteer emergency responders.  

Voters in Michigan, Missouri, and Utah Approve Marijuana Laws on Election Day

Three states approved new marijuana laws on Election Day 2018. Voters approved medical marijuana laws in Missouri and Utah, while Michigan voters approved a recreational marijuana law.

Breastfeeding Permitted in Any Place of Public Accommodation in Utah

Utah amends its civil rights law to prohibit discrimination based on pregnancy in places of public accommodation. The amendment also creates the Utah Breastfeeding Protection Act, which provides that a woman may breastfeed in any place of public accommodation.

Utah Requires Reasonable Accommodations for Pregnancy-Related Conditions

Utah Governor Gary Herbert signed legislation (Senate Bill 59) that requires employers with 15 or more employees to provide reasonable accommodations for pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and pregnancy-related conditions.
