Reminder - Annual New Jersey Gender Inequity Notices Must be Distributed

New Jersey law requires New Jersey employers with 50 or more employees (determined by counting all employees regardless of whether those employees work in New Jersey) to “conspicuously post” and distribute a notification stating employees’ rights to be free from gender inequity or bias in pay, compensation, benefits or other terms or conditions, under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Equal Pay Act of 1963.

Freelancers in New York City Get Wage Protections

A written contract, payment within 30 days, and statutory damages for non-payment of wages are among the provisions of New York City’s new freelancer protection law signed by Mayor Bill de Blasio on November 16, 2016. The law will become effective 180 calendar days after signing and will apply to contracts entered into after the effective date.
