New Jersey Paid Sick Leave Act Reminder

As noted previously, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy (D) has signed into law the New Jersey Paid Sick Leave Act (the “Act”), which will provide eligible employees with paid leave for their own medical needs, those of a family member, or other covered reasons. 

The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development has released on its website the required notice that must be posted and distributed to all New Jersey employees under the New Jersey Paid Sick Leave Act.

Seattle Requires Certain Employers to Offer Commuter Benefits

California Raises Minimum Pay Requirements for Certain Exemptions for 2019

The California Department of Industrial Relations has announced an increase to the pay rates computer software employees and physicians must receive in order to be exempt from overtime. Additionally, the minimum salary required for the administrative, professional, and executive exemptions will increase at the start of the year. These new rates take effect on January 1, 2019.

California Issues Emergency Regulation for Electronic Submission of 300A Forms by December 31, 2018

California employers with 250 or more employees per establishment or employers with 20-249 employees in certain identified industries (which is the same as Federal OSHA) must electronically submit to the Federal OSHA website by December 31, 2018 and then each year thereafter.

Washington Paid Sick and Safe Leave Law & Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program

Since January 1, 2018, all Washington employers, regardless of size, have been required to provide their employees paid sick and safe leave (“PSSL”). Starting in 2020, Washington will be the fifth state in the nation to offer paid family and medical leave benefits to workers.
