Vermont sets discrimination claim timeframe

Vermont announces 2022 minimum wage

Minimum Wage Update for Various Jurisdictions

Various jurisdictions have increased their minimum wage rates. If applicable, you must increase the pay rate for exempt and/or non-exempt employees to meet the new minimum wage. For New York, the pay rate increase is effective on or before December 31, 2018. For all other jurisdictions and federal contractors, the increase is effective on or before January 1, 2019. An updated poster is not required provided that the employer has the most recent poster already on display. If needed, employers should order a new minimum wage poster. The minimum wage rate is based on the employee’s work location.

Vermont Attorney General Published Guide to Marijuana in the Workplace

Vermont Bars Inquiries into Job Applicants’ Salary and Benefit History

Beginning July 1, 2018, employers in Vermont will be prohibited from requiring a prospective employee to disclose salary and benefit history under legislation (<u>H.B. 294</u>) signed by Governor Phil Scott on May 11, 2018. The new law also bars employers from seeking an applicant’s salary history without applicant authorization.

Vermont’s Governor Signs Recreational Marijuana Law

Vermont’s Governor Phil Scott signed a recreational marijuana law on January 22, 2018. The law is the first recreational marijuana law to be enacted by a state legislature without a ballot initiative. It will take effect on July 1, 2018.
