IRS Announces 2024 Medical Mileage Rate

On Dec. 14, 2023, the Internal Revenue Service issued Notice 2024-08 announcing that the standard mileage rate, effective Jan. 1, 2024, for use of an automobile to obtain medical care is 21 cents per mile.

IRS Announces 2024 Automobile Business Use Mileage Rates

On Dec.  14, 2023, the Internal Revenue Service issued via Notice 2024-08 the 2024 optional standard mileage rates used to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, moving, and charitable purposes.

Who is filing your 2023 ACA Reporting?

OSHA 300A Summary must be posted in workplace Feb.1 through April 30, 2024

OSHA’s Recordkeeping Standard, 29 CFR 1904, requires that certain employers maintain annual records of workplace injuries and illnesses. The 300A Summary is required to be posted in the workplace every Feb. 1 through April 30 to show records from the previous year’s injuries and illnesses, even if no work-related injuries or illnesses occurred during the previous year.

New York to Require Written Agreements for Freelancers

New York has enacted legislation (Senate Bill S5026: The Freelance Isn't Free Act, or "the Act"), requiring businesses in New York state to enter into written agreements with certain independent contractors. Senate Bill S5206 takes effect on May 20, 2024.

New York Seals Certain Criminal Records

New York has enacted legislation (Assembly Bill A1029C: The Clean Slate Act), which will automatically seal certain criminal records and require employers to review hiring processes related to an applicant’s criminal history. The Clean Slate Act, or “the Act,” takes effect on Nov. 16, 2024.
