Court Postpones Termination of Temporary Protected Status for Haiti

A federal district court has postponed the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) decision to terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti pending further court action. TPS for Haiti would have expired effective Feb. 3, 2026.

OSHA Recordkeeping compliance reminder: Certain employers must electronically submit their 2025 OSHA Form 300A (Summary of work-related injuries and illnesses) by March 2, 2026.

Recently, we published an article reminding you to post your OSHA Form 300A in the workplace from February 1 through April 30, 2026. Some employers are also required to electronically submit the information from their 2025 OSHA Form 300A via the OSHA Injury Tracking Application (ITA). OSHA has a tool in ITA Coverage Application to help employers determine if they are covered by the regulation.

Philadelphia Adds Menstruation, Menopause and Perimenopause Protections

The Philadelphia City Council has enacted legislation (Bill 250849), which amends the Philadelphia Fair Practices Ordinance (PFPO) to prohibit discrimination against employees based on menstruation, perimenopause and menopause. The changes take effect Jan. 1, 2027.

New York Enacts Trapped at Work Act

New York has enacted legislation (Senate Bill S4070B), which bans promissory notes that require an employee to repay their employer for training expenses if the employee leaves their employment before the note period expires. Senate Bill S4070B is effective immediately.

New Jersey Codifies Prohibitions Against Disparate Impact Discrimination

New Jersey has adopted rules that codify its nondiscrimination law prohibiting employers from disparate impact discrimination. The rules cover New Jersey employers, labor organizations, employment agencies and other entities, and are effective immediately.

IRS Announces 2026 Automobile Business Use Mileage Rates
