California to adopt new COVID-19 prevention rules

We want to let you know that the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) has approved COVID-19 Prevention Non-Emergency Regulations (NER) to replace Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS).  On Feb. 3, 2023, the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approved the new COVID-19 prevention regulations, which means that these new regulations are in effect as of Feb. 3, 2023, and will remain in effect for the next two years.

Albany County, NY Requires Pay Range Disclosure

Colorado Says PHEL No Longer Applies to Flu and RSV

Colorado’s public health emergency leave (PHEL) requirement no longer applies to the flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and similar respiratory illnesses, according to guidance issued by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE). Beginning Jan. 8, 2023, the PHEL requirement applies to COVID-19 only.

Iowa Permits Employers to Provide Employee Wage Statements by Electronic Means

Previously, employers were required to mail wage statements, provide them at the place of employment, or provide employees with the means to view and print an electronic wage statement at the workplace. Per House Bill 2240, employers are now allowed to provide wage statements to employees via secure electronic transmission or other secure electronic means.

If the employee is unable to receive his or her wage statement electronically, the employee must notify the employer in writing at least one pay period in advance, and the employer must:
  • Send the statement to the employee by mail;
  • Provide the statement to the employee at the employee’s normal place of business during normal employment hours; or
  • Provide the employee access to view the employee earnings statement electronically and provide the employee free and unrestricted access to a printer to print the statement.

Effective: July 1, 2018
