Utah Protects Against Vaccination or Immunity Status Discrimination

New Jersey Enacts Bill of Rights for Temporary Workers

New Jersey has enacted legislation (Assembly Bill 1474), the "New Jersey Temp Worker Bill of Rights," (the “Bill”) which increases the rights of certain temporary workers. The law is set to take effect on August 5, 2023, with a few provisions that begin on May 7, 2023.

Maryland Increases Minimum Wage on an Expedited Basis

Connecticut Extends Registration Deadline for State-Run Retirement Plan

Connecticut employers with five to 25 employees will now have until August 31, 2023 to register with the MyCTSavings program, if they don't offer a retirement plan. MyCTSavings is a state-run, payroll withholding savings program using Roth Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).

Colorado - Retroactive Paid Family Leave Payroll Deductions Prohibited in Colorado

California - Employers May Seek Extension for Labor Contractor Pay Data Report

California Updates Guidance & Resources for New Pay Data Reporting Rules

California’s Civil Rights Division (CRD) has released updated guidance and resources to reflect recent changes to the pay data reporting requirements for employers with 100 or more employees. The changes were a result of the enactment of Senate Bill 1162. ADP® is in the process of updating your payroll system to generate a fileable version of the employee pay data report. The fileable version is expected to be available in mid-April 2023.

Iowa Permits Employers to Provide Employee Wage Statements by Electronic Means

Previously, employers were required to mail wage statements, provide them at the place of employment, or provide employees with the means to view and print an electronic wage statement at the workplace. Per House Bill 2240, employers are now allowed to provide wage statements to employees via secure electronic transmission or other secure electronic means.

If the employee is unable to receive his or her wage statement electronically, the employee must notify the employer in writing at least one pay period in advance, and the employer must:
  • Send the statement to the employee by mail;
  • Provide the statement to the employee at the employee’s normal place of business during normal employment hours; or
  • Provide the employee access to view the employee earnings statement electronically and provide the employee free and unrestricted access to a printer to print the statement.

Effective: July 1, 2018
